These are estimates. Rockstar has not announced official PC system requirements for GTA 6, and a PC version has not been dated. The specs below are informed projections based on Red Dead Redemption 2, GTA 5's PC release and current AAA open-world games. We will replace them with the official numbers the moment Rockstar publishes them.

Why an SSD matters for GTA 6

GTA 6 is being built around current-generation consoles, which use fast solid-state storage. Streaming a dense open world like Vice City at speed almost certainly assumes an SSD. If you install the game on an older mechanical hard drive, expect longer load times and possible texture pop-in even if the rest of your PC is powerful.

Will my PC run GTA 6?

As a rough guide: if your machine comfortably runs recent demanding open-world games — such as Red Dead Redemption 2, Cyberpunk 2077 or a modern Assassin's Creed — at your preferred settings, you are in a good position for GTA 6's eventual PC release. Players on older GPUs with less than 8 GB of VRAM are the most likely to need an upgrade.

Frequently asked questions

What are the official GTA 6 PC requirements?

Rockstar has not published official PC system requirements yet because the PC version has not been dated. The specs on this page are estimates based on comparable AAA open-world games and will be updated when official numbers arrive.

How much RAM does GTA 6 need?

We expect 16 GB to be the practical minimum, with 32 GB recommended for high settings and smooth performance — in line with other modern AAA open-world titles.

Do I need an SSD for GTA 6?

Almost certainly. The game is designed around fast console storage, so an SSD (ideally NVMe) is strongly recommended to avoid long loads and texture streaming issues.

Can a low-end PC run GTA 6?

It will depend on the final optimisation, but PCs with GPUs below 8 GB VRAM or older quad-core CPUs are the most likely to struggle. Plan for at least a mid-range, last-few-years build.
